We’re thrilled to announce the arrival of newly hatched Sulcata tortoises! These lively little tortoises are eager to find their forever homes and make wonderful lifelong companions. Baby Sulcatas are often considered the ideal pet tortoise due to their hardy nature, simple care requirements, and delightful personalities. Our tortoises are 100% captive-bred—never imported. This ensures they are raised in safe, controlled environments and supports the conservation of wild tortoise populations.

At our facility, we prioritize the health and well-being of each hatchling, keeping all newly hatched Sulcatas for a minimum of two weeks before shipping them to their new homes. During this period, we closely monitor each baby tortoise’s eating habits, activity levels, and overall health to ensure they’re well-established and thriving. This observation period allows us to provide you with a strong, healthy tortoise, ready for a smooth transition to your care.

Our Care Process

Our hatchlings are introduced to a balanced diet of fresh greens and high-fiber plants, just like what they would find in the wild. We grow much of their food ourselves, selecting a variety of grasses and other native plants to keep their diets nutritionally rich. Romaine lettuce is a staple, as it’s gentle on their digestive systems and provides ample hydration. We also dust their food with a vitamin D supplement, crucial for healthy shell and bone development, especially in their formative years.

Exposure to UVB light is another cornerstone of their care, as it helps them synthesize vitamin D3, enabling calcium absorption to keep their bones and shells strong. We also maintain a humidity level of 65%-75% in their enclosure. This humidity level helps prevent shell pyramiding and promotes smooth growth, a common challenge for Sulcatas raised in arid conditions. Finally, we soak our baby Sulcatas routinely, which keeps them hydrated and encourages regular bowel movements. These steps, though they might seem detailed, are straightforward and manageable, ensuring you’re set up for easy, effective care once your new pet arrives.

About the sex of Our Hatchlings

For those interested in specific sex selection, all of our hatchlings are incubated to produce females. Though we can’t offer a 100% guarantee, incubation conditions are known to influence sex, and our track record shows a success rate over 95%. At the hatchling stage, males and females are physically identical, making it impossible to visually determine gender. Be wary of sellers who claim to guarantee the gender of a hatchling without qualification. The only definitive method for sex identification is surgical sexing, which must be performed by a qualified veterinarian and can sometimes cause unnecessary stress or lasting harm to the animal.
